Martha Grace Tedrow, 86, of New Salem, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield.
She was born May 11, 1921 near Chambersburg daughter of the late Russell and Mary Metz Lidgard.
She married Flaud Elvin Tedrow Aug. 30, 1941 in Palmyra, Mo. and he preceded her in death Dec. 28, 1996.
Surviving are two daughters, Beverly Willis of St. Charles, Mo. and Barbara Seymour and husband Carl of Baylis; two sons, Richard Tedrow and wife Penny of New Salem and Russell Tedrow and companion Delores Holder of Griggsville; ten grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Pauline Butler of Pittsfield; a brother, Bill Lidgard and wife Mardell of Chambersburg; two sisters-in-law, Mary Tedrow of Pittsfield. and Ayre Tedrow of Griggsville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers and sisters, Ellsworth Lidgard, Wayne Lidgard, Emmett Lidgard, Anita Ham, Maxine Edwards, and twins, Edna and Earl Lidgard in infancy.
Martha was a life-long member of the Chambersburg Christian Church in Chambersburg but attended the New Salem United Methodist Church in New Salem after moving to the New Salem area. She and her husband raised their four children on the family farm near New Salem. She also worked at Trio Manufacturing and both Ackles Apple Orchard and Penstone Orchards. She later worked for Brown Shoe in Pittsfield.
Among her many passions were quilting, crocheting, and cooking in which she won many ribbons at Western Illinois Fair. Her main passion was caring for her family and spending time with friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville. Burial will be in Gray Cemetery near New Salem. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to Gray Cemetery or to the New Salem United Methodist Church both c/o Airsman-Hires Chapel Box 341 Griggsville.
