Convicted of Robbing Neighbors. Norfolk, Va., Oct. 28. Robert MAYES and his sister, Anna MAYES, were sentenced to jail today, the former for 60 days and the latter for six months, on the charge of robbing their neighbors in Huntersville, a suburb of this city. It is alleged that four houses were robbed by the prisoners before they were captured.

Negro Pastors Adjourn. Richmond, Oct. 28. The conference of Negro pastors adjourned here tonight to meet next year in Petersburg. A decision was reached that they should officiate at the marriage of divorced parties only when such persons have been divorced for Scriptural reasons.

Negro Robbed of Savings. Richmond, Va., Oct. 28. A colored farmer living near Richmond was yesterday robbed of $95, the savings of five years. The thief added insult to injury by leaving Confederate bills in place of the greenbacks.
Gov. Montague to Address Elks. Newport News, Va., Oct 28. Gov. A. J. MONTAGUE has accepted the invitation to deliver the memorial address at the Elks' annual "Lodge of Sorrow," to be held in the Academy of Music on the first Sunday in December.

Fatal Fall from Merry-Go-Round. Fredericksburg, Va., Oct 28. Peter CARNEAL, eight years old, son of George CARNEAL, of Spotsylvania County, was killed while riding a home-made merry-go-round. In falling his head struck a rock, killing him almost instantly.
