REPORT ON McUIN'S CASE.
General Anderson to Send It to the Attorney General Today.
District Attorney ANDERSON will this afternoon submit to the Department of Justice his report in the case of Charles L. McUIN, sentenced to be hanged in the District Jail on Friday next, but who has petitioned for communication. It was expected that Mr. ANDERSON would have forwarded his recommendation in the case, to the Attorney General, this morning. The delay, however, it is understood, is caused by the desire of the District Attorney to have a conference with Justice CLABAUGH, who presided at the trial and sentenced McUIN to death.
It is not believed that the report of District Attorney ANDERSON will be either for or against the condemned man. Since McUIN's conviction, it is said, he has deteriorated mentally as well as physically and that Mr. ANDERSON has made a thorough investigation, the result of which he will report to the Attorney General in order that this official may act with full knowledge of all the circumstances in the case.
The mandate of the Court of Appeals, affirming the judgment of the Supreme Court of the District in the case, was handed down this morning, and the warrant for the execution of McUIN issued.
