Judy R. Franklin, 56, of Winchester died Monday, March 3, 2008, at Passavant Area Hospital.
She was born Sept. 12, 1951 in Jacksonville to the late William C. and Edith M. Reynolds Franklin. Judy was a 1969 graduate of Winchester High School.
She was an LPN and worked at the Jacksonville State Hospital for several years. She then worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections, retiring in 2002 as a Captain. She loved her grandchildren and also fishing. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Winchester.
Survivors include her three sons, William (wife Krissi) Banks of Barry, Timothy Banks of Jacksonville and Anthony (wife Jennifer) Banks of Columbus, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Claudia and Anthony Banks of Jacksonville, Ethan, Avery, William Banks of Barry, Mazie and Justin Banks of Jacksonville; two stepgrandchildren; a brother, James A. (wife Nancy) Franklin of Burlington, Iowa; three sisters, Barbara (husband Ron) Carter of Ft. Madison, Iowa, Linda (husband Tom) Paul of Winchester and Jane White of Winchester; several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers and one sister.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 6 at the Winchester City Cemetery. Visitation was held after 4 p.m. Wednesday March 5, 2008 at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester where the family met with friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Cornerstone Baptist Church or to the family.
