Criminals Sentenced
Richmond, May 3. Last Saturday the following criminals were brought to the bar of the honourable General Court and received their sentence, viz.
-- John WILSON alias Harding Chowning from Spotsylvania, for Negro stealing.
-- Elijah HUGHES from Brunswick, William ARMSTRONG from New Kent, John CANDY, alias Edward Watkins, from Carolina, and James VANCE from Frederick for burglary.
-- John CAMPBELL from Amherst, and William COVERN from Augusta for horse stealing.
-- John COODY from Goochland for murder.
They are to be executed on Friday the 30th of next month.
-- Nancy READ from Henrico for felony was burnt in the hand and discharged from the bar.
-- David LOCK and John FRANKLIN, from Frederick, associated with VANCE, in robbing, &c. were severally burnt in the hand, and as a further conviction for their offence, were by the unanimous sentence of the court, ordered to be confined in the public goal one year without bail or mainprise.
