Description: Posthumous Award Of Purple Heart To Pfc Jay Cheel

Pfc. Jay CHEEL, who was killed in action in France on D-Day, 6 Jun, has been posthumously awarded the purple heart for wounds received, it was learned here. The award was recently received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.W. CHEEL of Las Vegas.
Pfc. CHEEL was serving as a paratrooper with the Army Air Forces during the invasion when he met his death from enemy fire. He has a brother, Walter C. CHEEL, now training at Fort Knox, KY, with a tank division.
