Trotter Awaits the President
[Transcriber's Note: In the 1880 census, James M. Trotter was living in Hyde Park, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, with his wife, Virginia, and their two children (William M. and Maud A.). James, who was working as a Post Office Clerk, was 38 years old. The ages of his wife and children were, respectively, 36, 8, and 5. He was from Mississippi while Virginia was from Ohio. William was born in Ohio while Maud was born in Massachusetts.]
James M. TROTTER, the newly appointed colored recorder of deeds for the District of Columbia will not be confirmed, and unless the President re-appoints him after the adjournment of Congress, Mr. TROTTER will have to trot back to Massachusetts.
Mr. H. H. KEEDY of Hagerstown has written a letter in reply to Mayor HODGES' letter complimenting Comptroller TURNER's management of State finances. In his letter, Mr. KEEDY makes several sharp points which the Comptroller will have to whittle down a little to satisfy the people.
