Birmingham, Ala., May 31 Eugene L. Caton, named by J. W. Heisman, the famous football expert, as his selection for All-Southern center for all-time, will be director of Athletics at Howard College next session. Caton got his training at Auburn, winding up his football career in 1910 with remarkable record behind him. He will be assisted at Howard by Robert Robinson, one of the best all-around athletes who ever wore a Crimson and Blue uniform.
In going to Howard next, Caton will step into a good salary and one of the best athletic situations in Alabama. Since the entrance of the Baptist college into athletics nine years ago wonderful progress has been made, and it is understood that there will be a greater number of athletes than ever before in her history.
While he will direct all athletics, Caton will give particular attention to football and track. Robinson will work as his assistant and right-hand man, probably taking over most of the coaching in baseball and tennis, and he a master of these branches.
